1B1 is currently enjoying great success with its series of concerts in New York. The string orchestra, which began as a student group at the music conservatory in Stavanger in 2008 and who last year won a Grammy, has during the last two weeks played with several of the biggest international stars of classical music, in front of audiences that included famous cultural figures like Salman Rushdie, Helena Christensen and David Byrne.

Thursday 12th November saw 1B1 debut on Brooklyn’s new National Sawdust venue with two very different interpretations of Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite. 1B1 visited Germany last week and took part in a spectacular Label Night in Berlin, in addition to concerts in Dresden and Leipzig.

The concert in Dresden was part of a cultural manifestation against right wing extremism, and the event was widely reported in German media. A MDR TV report reaching a potential 25 million viewers can be seen here.
